How to Save Money on Health and Beauty Aids

Where to Find the Bargains

The local pharmacy or department store often has substantial reductions on health and beauty aids during storewide sales.  When this happens, buy in bulk, but make sure the products have a long shelf life and that you store them properly.

Large grocery chains carry a selection of health and beauty aids that are sometimes less expensive than at the local pharmacy.

Razor blades, cuticle scissors, nail clippers, tweezers, etc. are often less expensive when purchased from online stores.  Always look for name brands when shopping online.

If you belong to a co-op or shopping club, you will find that they provide quality products at a reduced price, especially if you buy in bulk.

Deep discount stores carry a line of health and beauty aids, but any product that is for internal use or is to be used on bruised or damaged skin, should be scrutinized thoroughly to ensure it is not from a country or manufacturer with low manufacturing standards.

Going Green

Vinegar is a great dandruff remedy.  Raw egg whites can tighten the skin on your face when it is left to dry.  Salad dressing cleans the pores and softens the skin when used as a facial.

Baking soda makes great toothpaste.  If it is mixed into a paste with a little water, it can be used as an underarm deodorant.  Mineral oil can substitute as a bath or after shower oil. You can even use a little squeezed lemon or lemon juice to scent your bath.
