My Credit Card has Anti Fraud Measures

With online purchases, it’s getting harder and harder for credit card companies to identify fraud. Recently, my perfectly standard purchases triggered the bank to give me a call about possible fraud.

One of the measures that company use is the location of the transaction. Since I work with many online companies and they all charge me based in their primary business address, my recent transactions appeared like this:

  • Transaction in Canada – April 19
  • Advertising charge in Hong Kong – April 19
  • Online purchase in USA – April 19

Normally, this is not possible right? How can I be in HK, Canada and USA at the same time? However, this is exactly what happened. I had subscription services that were automatically charged on the 19th and I also bought something online the same day, making it seem like I can teleport (or that my card was duplicated).

The great thing was that my bank called me about the transactions to verify. The bad thing is that I had to figure out what those charges were since they wouldn’t really tell me every detail of the transaction over the phone.

Of course, I’ve done this before through an automated service which is nice (you can continue to get it to repeat the transaction and wait while you search through your bills and memories of the charges).

I wouldn’t go as far as making this service online though because it’s so easy for a fraudster to just log into the account and approve everything.

Long story short, I’m happy that I got the call even though it was a false alarm. With credit card fraud and my credit possibly destroyed, it’s better safe than sorry.

Howdy! Do you know if they make any plugins to assist with SEO? I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very good gains. If you know of any please share. Cheers!
