I own a Discover Business credit card and the most frustrating thing about using this card must be the lack of merchants that accept it.
I mean, I love the card and everything about it but why can’t I use this anywhere!?!?
In particular, here are the areas where I would like merchant acceptance to improve:
- Search Marketing Companies – Google, Yahoo, Ask, MIVA all accept Visa and Mastercard. Some even accept American Express but not Discover. Why?
- Restaurants – This is probably the most painful for me because I never know until I ask the waiter or waitresses. I hate to ask and I wish that it’s as easy as just flashing my Mastercard.
- Clothing Stores – Most of the time, if I don’t have cash, I don’t won’t be able to purchase what I want.
I’m happy to say though that most online merchants that I shop with accept the Discover card because they either use Paypal or Google checkout which supports just about all popular forms of credit card payment that exists worldwide.
One other suggestion I have is for all card holders. If you are in love with your Discover card, try to talk with the store owners into accepting this card. If enough people complain to them, I’m sure merchants will start accepting the card.
